Hot on the heels of last week’s casual update, Bandai Namco has announced a big change to one of the most frustrating characters in Tekken 7: Devil Jin.
The other day, I was playing a match of Tekken 7, and I was getting smashed by my opponent. He was getting the crowd going, and I was getting frustrated. At one point, I was even out of the match. But then, there was a small window of opportunity: a red health bar. When I saw this, I jumped on the opportunity and started pounding my opponent. Before I knew it, I was able to take the match and win.
In Tekken 7 Season 2, Jinpachi Mishima and Asuka Kazama are the two characters who have received the most nerfs. Devil Jin is the only character to have had both his Tension Gauge and Super Attack damage reduced. These changes were made to make the character more difficult to play, and to discourage players from using him.

Devil Jin is unquestionably one of the top tier characters in the Tekken 7 Tournament. With him, Qudans won the World Tekken Tournament in 2017, and many elite players, including Knee, utilize him. His HellSweep irritated a lot of people. Devil Jin is powerful since it is extremely quick and we have to anticipate whether the opponent will perform the HellSweep or the Up-Forward 4.
Many characters have been impacted by the Season 2 DLC, including Dragunov, Paul, Claudio, Jin, and two new characters: Anna and Lei Wulong. However, since it will take time to adapt to the new characters, professional players who are currently utilizing characters like as Dragunov and Devil Jin will have to change as well.
Devil Jin’s Hell Sweep has a respectable range. Even if you hit it with your feet a bit too far apart, you may still perform a micro-step and complete the combination. That is no longer possible. I’ve watched numerous online matches where Qudans and Knee have been micro-stepping their way through combinations because their opponent has fallen a little too far, forcing them to either dash a little to perform a Back 4 or a low poke. Ground Lazer also doesn’t hit, as Aris shows in his latest video.
Other moves, such as Forward 1+2 (which does more damage after the opponent bounces off the wall) and Forward, N, Down, Down-Forward 4, 4 (which deals more damage after the opponent bounces off the wall), have been buffed. Other minor modifications were made to the character, but he seems to be still suitable for online contests, as opposed to the anger we felt after seeing the patch notes prior to the update. I haven’t yet downloaded the patch, but I want to play it within the next few days. Anyway, after Dragunov, he’s my second primary, and I’m still battling in the Green Ranks (Currently Fighter).
