The 3600 Ryzen 5 was and continues to be a huge hit, ranking among the most popular CPUs globally. It has six cores and twelve threads, which aren’t found on any Intel CPU for less than $250. While the 9600K was still a solid option that outperformed the Ryzen 5 3600 by 5% in most games, many preferred the Ryzen 5 3600 over it owing to the latter’s availability of hyperthreading.

If pricing is taken out of the comparison at an instance which is of course stupidity, to see where the i5 10600K stands, it is to be noted that it is the direct challenger from Intel’s side to the Ryzen 5 3600 as both are overclockable and specs wise both feature 6 cores & 12 threads.
The i5 10600K is a significant upgrade over the i5 9600K, including not just hyperthreading but also much faster clock rates. The base frequency of the i5 9600K is 3.70GHz, whereas the base clock on the 10600K is 4.10GHz. The i5 9600K has a boost speed of 4.60GHz, while the 10600K has a boost clock of 4.80GHz. Although the boost clock of the 10600K is just 200MHz higher, raising the base speed to 4.10GHz will result in much greater performance and consistency than the i5 9600K.
