You enjoyed analyzing Donald Trump’s tweets for clues to his personality? Then try analyzing them as the Joker from “Batman”. Mark Hamill has been doing this for a few days now, and there are many who are convinced he nailed it. (You can hear him read Trump’s tweets here and here .) You don’t have to agree with the actor’s take on the president’s tweets, but Hamill’s performance was so good, I think we can all agree that he deserves an Oscar.
Mark Hamill is one of the most popular voice actors in the world (and the voice of the Joker in the Batman Arkham games) and he is also a die-hard Republican. However, since he isn’t given to inflammatory political rhetoric, he is something of a fan of Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate a man named Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court of the United States. The United States Senate is set to begin a series of hearings on Gorsuch’s nomination tomorrow, and the first of those will be held in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The hearing will be live-streamed on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s web site, and we’ll be covering the event. Along with the live stream, heathstats.com will have a full transcript of the hearing, which will be updated live as the hearing goes on.
Mark Hamill, who plays the Joker in the Batman Arkham Games and animated series, is leveraging his portrayal of Gotham’s most notorious criminal to make Donald Trump’s tweets seem even more sinister.
The audio sample was tweeted by Hamill. The Joker can be heard repeating Trump’s notorious December 31st tweet, “Happy New Year to everyone, including my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so hard they don’t know what to do,” on Saturday. Love!”

This tweet was labeled #1 by the voice of everyone’s favorite Joker, so we anticipate a few more in the coming days. But why is the Luke Skywalker actor reading out Donald Trump’s tweets?
Hamill’s Joker reading of Trump’s tweet was inspired by comedian Matt Oswalt, who tweeted on December 31st, “This sounds like something the Joker would say just before unleashing a swarm of deadly bees onto Gotham,” in response to Trump’s New Year’s greeting.
“BILLION DOLLAR IDEA: an App that you can input every Trump tweet into that plays it back in @HamillHimself Joker voice,” Oswalt tweeted on Saturday, an idea that Oswalt’s brother Patton Oswalt supported.
“As soon as I find out how to tweet soundbites, I’d LOVE to,” Hamill tweeted to the Oswalts shortly after. #Trumputin is the best writer of supervillain dialogue! #KremlinCandidate.” Hamill’s Twitter fans rushed to his assistance, and the audio clip was born.
Happy New Year from The Joker… or Trump, depending on your point of view.
In addition to playing Luke Skywalker, Hamill has long been the voice of the Joke in animated programs, films, and video games, beginning with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992 and continuing until Justice League Action in 2016.
Throughout the presidential election season, Hamill has been a vocal opponent of Trump, using hashtags such as #PutinsPuppet, #KGB4Trump, and #TheKremlinsAndKKKsKandidate.
What do you think The Joker should say next?
