Recently, I received a request for help from a user who is looking for information on how to get the “EAT OR BE EATEN” quest. This is the quest that requires you to eat the first monster you see in the game and is the “Hardest” quest in Monster Hunter World. This is actually one of the quests that I myself have asked many different users about, but I was unable to find a definitive answer.
We are excited to announce the second research request for our MHW: Iceborne (Research Request) Gold Reward Guide! The Research Request is aimed to collect more data on the Iceborne: Eat or Be Eaten (Research Request) Gold Reward Guide, so we can provide more informative articles in the future. A lot of work was put in to making the guide as detailed as possible, and we want to put that work to good use! We will be going over the hosts of each quest, the amount of monsters in each quest, and a lot more, to give you the most comprehensive guide possible!
The quest is officially underway! The new Monster Hunter World game is now available on all platforms and both the PS4 and Xbox One versions have been updated at the same time. I am one of the many people who have already purchased and started playing this game since the release date and I will be doing a guide for the Iceborne quest. I will also be doing a research request for the Gold reward with this guide.
The Research Requests are an optional side mission in Monster Hunter World Iceborne. This necessitates taking pictures of several Palico moggies doing various activities, one of which is ordering a group of their own.
Each quest has its own set of criteria, and there are a total of 20 of them, some of which are sealed until you complete specific tasks.
To activate this, talk with the Lyrian Researcher in Seliana. He will inform you about the study and provide you with a Surveyor Set, which is used to capture pictures of the moggies doing whatever they do.
Once you believe you have a decent enough picture, you must return to the Researcher to turn it in. He may be a nuisance at times, so I now refer to him as ‘Awkward Blighter’ since he struggles with perfection. If you want to go for the Gold Rewards, you’ll probably find out about it as well. Gold Rewards, on the other hand, are not required, and you may just pass with a Bronze if you choose. My guides, on the other hand, are focused on nailing that perfect shot and claiming the all-powerful Gold.
NOTE:
Capture as much as possible = This refers to capturing just the moggy and not the surroundings. Basically, the more of the moggy you get and the less of anything else, the better. 1st Subject: Front = The kitty must face the camera.
REQUEST 14) Eat or Be Eaten
COMPLETION CONDITIONS: * Capture as large as possible * 1 – Subject: Any direction * Angling for a large fish
REWARDS: GOLD: SublimeWyverian Print SILVER: Golden Egg BRONZE: 2000 points
You’ll have to wait for this one since the kitten will start fishing but will either fail to catch anything or catch a little fish, which we don’t want. Wait for it to attempt to capture a large fish, and when it does, the kitten will seem to be struggling harder, and the sheer size of the fish will cause it to spin the leaf boat around, which is when you need to snap the picture. If you wait too long, a huge fish will appear and knock the unfortunate furball into the water.

The Monster Hunter: World Iceborne expansion has a new main quest line, and it’s an interesting one, at least for me. It’s just that the way to access it is… kind of odd. After getting the new quest, “The Icebound Fortitude”, you’ll learn that it’ll be easy to tell the hunter on the quest, who has been called to the city of Ziedon, to get there. “It’s on the way!” is what the quest-giver said. “No problem!” is what I replied..
