Nioh is one of the most beloved RPG games around. It welcomes players into a dark and brutal world of samurai, warfare, and demonic creatures. In Nioh you can expect a challenge, as the game is merciless in its difficulty. However, you can find a wealth of useful tips and tricks to help you get through the game and improve your overall skills. Here’s a list of the best Nioh tips and tricks for your next playthrough.
Nioh is a game that takes bravery to play. It is set in the late 18th century and takes place in a dark, flooded world. The game is fairly easy to get into but the difficulty lies in the fact that if you die, you have to start from the beginning. That means you can’t just reload the last checkpoint and keep playing. You have to get back to where you died and replay the whole thing.
Here are some hints and advice for Nioh, an action role-playing game.
-
- Armor Requires Stats – Keep in mind that most armor has minimum requirements that may be seen underneath the resist stats.
To receive the stat boost from the armor, you must fulfill these criteria.
If you do not fulfill the criteria, the “Required” stat will be red on the stat screen.
- Heart is a highly important early trait since the more Ki you have, the more attacks and dodges/blocks you can make.
Early on, try to get your magic and dex to 10-20. This will allow you to complete Dojo training missions, which are necessary for learning and unlocking more powerful Onmyo and Ninja abilities.
There are several extremely helpful passives in both the Onmyo and Ninja skill trees that are active regardless of whatever skills you are using.
While we’re on the topic of Dojos, be careful to complete all of the Dojo training missions to get access to passives in weapon skill trees.
Another essential early characteristic is spirit. Passive benefits are provided by your guardian spirits, but only if your spirit level is high enough.
To know how much spirit you require for each passive benefit, check your particular guardian spirit at a shrine or in the status menu.
You can buy respec items later in the game to respec all of your characteristics, so don’t worry about leveling the incorrect ones.
- Respec – To respec, speak with the blacksmith on the map, then look in her inventory for the “Book of Reincarnation” item. (It’ll set you back 10,000 gold.)
Keep in mind that the price of a respec book will rise with each purchase.
- Early skill upgrades – Try to get the skill upgrades “Does more damage following a flawless Ki pulse” and “Allow Ki Pulse While Dodging” as soon as possible. By purchasing them, you will be able to recover Ki by just dodging and without needing to press RB to pulse!
“Sword Ki” is another important talent. This freed Ki from your blade, allowing you to shock your foes. More significantly, your opponents will take a considerable amount of Ki damage as a result of this.
- Starting & Early weapons – If you can’t decide which starting weapons to choose, don’t worry too much. The choice isn’t a big deal since you get plenty of weapons to choose from as you fight.
If you still need help, the Odachi, as well as the Spear, are excellent options. Both are strong and have a long range, making you less vulnerable.
That said, before committing your skill points, make sure you test out all of the various kinds of weapons in the game; damage isn’t as essential as how comfortable you are with a weapon’s moveset.
Getting your hands on a twin katana early on may also be very beneficial. Starting with a mid-stance strike and ending with a high-stance attack may be very effective.
- There are three stances: high, mid, and low. For a high stance, press RB + Y, RB + X for a mid stance, and RB + A for a low stance.
The elevated stance emphasizes attack strength. It enables strong methods to be used, although it may be sluggish.
For defense, the mid stance is ideal. It employs a variety of tactics and is often used to initiate conflicts.
Dodging is easier with the low stance. You spend less Ki and can keep your guard up while moving or dodging.
- Selling goods – Select “Make Offering” to sell items for Amrita at a Shrine. (You’ll also get free elixirs and antidotes if you accomplish this.)
It’s preferable to sell your goods rather than disassemble them early on.
To rapidly empty your inventory, press X to “lock” the things you need, then LB to navigate to All Items, and finally RT to pick everything.
- Returning to the map – You may use a Himorogi Fragment to leave a mission and return to the map screen for any purpose (including to change missions, utilize the blacksmith, and so on).
Keep in mind that this will deplete all of your Amrita, so spend it first at a shrine.
- Enemy Ki – When you lock on to an enemy, the second bar you see is their Ki. While you strike when your opponent’s Ki is low, you have a better chance of staggering them. Enemies’ Ki is also reduced when they are hit with powerful strikes.
Enemies may be knocked down at 0 Ki; at this moment, rapidly run up and hold Y for a powerful strike while they are down.
- While the game will automatically store your progress (a spinning symbol will appear at the bottom of the screen), make sure you only exit the game after utilizing a shrine or seeing the spinning save indicator.
If you leave during a task, you will lose your progress and amrita.
You may also utilize a Himorogi Branch (unlimited uses) to exit a mission and return to your starting location without losing any Amrita.
- Shortcuts – Make sure to kick down any ladders, open doors, and interact with any items you come across by climbing up to them and pressing B. This will allow shortcuts to be created in the mission zones.
- Armor Requires Stats – Keep in mind that most armor has minimum requirements that may be seen underneath the resist stats.
- Running away – Enemies will lose interest and return to their original location if you run far enough away from them.
- More treasure – Elixirs and other things may occasionally be found within breakable objects. So make an effort to roll through any things you come across!
- Load on equipment – Your Agility rating has the most impact on your Ki consumption/regeneration and mobility. Your equipment load is determined by your Stamina attribute. There are four different kinds of weight ratings:
Light Medium Heavy Encumbered >=101%.
To remain nimble while yet having adequate protection to absorb opponent blows, it’s best to keep your weight below 70%.
If you’re very skilled at avoiding strikes, consider wearing light armor while you’re below 30%. Just be aware that certain opponents will be able to one-shot you as a result of this.
- Purple and other similar armor may come with unique set benefits. By pressing the Left trigger, you may see particular set bonus information.
- Check earlier missions in previous areas for quest rewards if you’re farming old missions. Many previously completed missions provide valuable items like as ammunition, which may be harvested numerous times.
- Guardian Spirit Refilling – Keep a supply of spirit stones on your shortcut bar. Your Amrita Gauge will be charged by using a spirit stone. If you die on a boss and need assistance from your guardian spirit, this is a great option.
Simply summon your Guardian Spirit back to the shrine if you die, and it will be ready for every boss battle. You’ll lose Amrita, but you’ll be allowed to utilize your familiar in each try.
- Gear Upgrades – If you’ve reached a new region and want to upgrade your gear, try battling the revenants strewn around the map. Each revnant has a chance to drop weapons and armor in the area where you are currently standing.
- Twilight Tasks – These missions vary on a daily basis and are typically end-game stuff, so don’t bother about them early on.
These missions may be very lucrative since you can encounter high-level revenants who, if defeated, will drop a large amount of amrita!
- Weak places – If you strike a larger enemy’s head, you may cause them to stumble and suffer extra damage.
- NG+ – In Nioh, NG+ functions in a similar way to Dark Souls 2. The monsters have been rearranged, and more stronger versions may be found wandering the levels.
