The number of people playing esports is rapidly increasing, as is the amount of money won in tournaments.
The Esports and competitive gaming communities are growing at a breakneck speed. More than 60% of GeForce players play competitive games at least once a month, and $211 million was given in Esports prize money in 2019, up 29% from the previous year. Esports viewership has also increased dramatically, with more than 450 million players tuning in to watch live events.
NVIDIA G-SYNC: Advancing Gaming and Driving Innovation
NVIDIA G-SYNC is well recognized for its revolutionary Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology, which prevents tearing by syncing the display refresh rate with the GPU’s frame rate. It was first announced in 2013. Since then, G-SYNC processors have introduced additional display technologies to speed up Esports panels, such as dynamic overdrive to increase player perception, custom-tuned firmware to improve picture quality for improved target acquisition, and now 360Hz refresh rates for faster response times. While Esports professionals traditionally tolerated frame tearing on their display to avoid waiting for the next frame to update, frames now refresh in less than 3ms thanks to G-360Hz SYNC’s and VRR technologies, giving Esports pros both tear-free frames and extremely low latency.
