The gang’s all here! With the exception of the illustrious Justin, who’s busy with the release of his latest book, we’re all back for another episode of our semi-regular game podcast. This time around we’re talking about the Steam winter sale and find out what our favorite games are.
Papers Please is a work in progress. Some of the things we want to include in the game are not implemented yet and others are kind of silly. But we do have a basic system for validating your identity and a nice binary system for categorizing your papers. Initially, Papers Please will be played in a browser, but we’re also considering porting to mobile devices. In this episode, we talk about Papers Please, its origins, and some of the design decisions we made along the way.
The next episode of Papers Please is set in a dystopian future where the government chooses to enforce ID cards on their citizens, to combat the rising crime rate. The game has been given a new name, and this time around you’re in the role of a border agent, tasked with deciding who gets to enter or leave the country. To do this, you must interview and examine the passengers, and then hand out a decision based on the information you have. As always, the actions you make impact the passengers’ future—but do they leave you with a wonderful game, or a terrible one?
Papers Please. Prepare your papers ahead of time. In this dystopian document thriller, Game Club enters the border gate.
Will the squad keep to the Arstotzka Glory? Or will they work to bring down the government from within? Check your papers and join us on the ninth edition of the podcast.
Papers Please is the topic of this episode.

Comments from the audience
Murphy, Anthony The finest character is Jorji Costava. I want to allow him in every time he shows up, even if it means making a mistake. I really like his passport, which he created himself. The best is Arstotzka!
Matthew Callus A very slow and ominous game when you first jump in, but once you get the hang of it, pace picks up & the satire is very well done.
