To the casual PC gamer, hybrid laptops, ultrabooks, and netbooks are the best way to go. They provide a good balance of power, portability, and features at a reasonable price. In my experience, the most convenient way to get this type of system is to buy a laptop running Windows 8 and install Linux on it. This is done the same way as installing Windows on a normal laptop, with the exception of a few extra steps.
Remember those days when you switched on your computer just to find out your computer was being taken over by a virus, and everything you tried to do to get it back was futile? Rather than be a victim of such situations, you should learn how to make your computer be more secure. This article is based on our experience with Torchlight 2 Outlander Hybrid Build.
This is a hybrid build for the fantastic game “Torchlight 2” released by Runic Games. It’s a game based on the Diablo2 engine and is a great game for casual gamers, as well as a great action RPG with a great story. There is a lot of great equipment to find and the game is as challenging as it gets, with a great combat system and skills.

I know I said I’d share my shootylander build next, but during my testing, I stumbled across something so weird that I had to create a build around it. I’ve discovered Outlander’s Holy Grail build: a hybrid style that combines the damage of a heavy Focus build with the ability to utilize weapon abilities like Chaos Burst, Shadowshot, and Poison Burst.
This has been tried by many individuals who have no idea what they’re doing. They divide their points between Strength and Focus, and as a result, their damage output is outstripped by monster armor. But I’ve discovered something that allows you to accomplish everything while also not sucking at any of it. It’s dubbed the Mad Genius build by myself.

When dual-wielding, the crucial finding that makes this work is in how skill damage is computed from your weapons. Even if the skill you wish to perform needs a different kind of weapon, damage is solely determined by the weapon in your right hand. You may use the skill as long as you have that weapon in your left hand, and it will compute the damage using the right-hand weapon. Skills like Chaos Burst and Shadowshot scale damage based on your weapon and need you to have a gun, which means you’d have to max out your Strength to get anything useful out of them under normal conditions (or use a purely elemental weapon and pump Focus, but those are extremely rare).
After the page break, the construction resumed.
Furthermore, high-level firearms require an absurd amount of Dexterity to operate, and having that much Dexterity limits your ability to kill things. Weapon skills are usually the domain of those sad little Str/Dex split Outlanders who don’t want to create a Focus/Glaive build like everyone else but have to deal with the technical inferiority of a high Dex requirement or subpar weaponry. But that is no longer the case!
Here’s how you go about it: Pump Focus like crazy, just as you would with a Glaive build. You can throw glaives like everyone else, but that isn’t what makes this build unique. Find the most powerful damage wand you can and place it in your right hand. Because of Master of the Elements, Poison is superior than other elemental kinds. This will be used by the game to compute damage. Equip a handgun in your left hand. It doesn’t need to deal any damage since you’ll never shoot it and the game won’t include it when calculating skill damage. For additional style points, utilize the gun you began with, or just acquire anything with good modifications, but keep in mind that damage is unimportant. With a pistol in one hand, you may utilize weapon abilities that compute damage depending on your wand and your Focus stat, such as Master of the Elements, even for attack skills like Chaos Burst that are solely weapon-DPS dependant.
Here’s how the Mad Genius compares to a conventional Strength-based weapon build in terms of benefits. When dual wielding pistols, a Strength build with Akimbo and Long Range Mastery gains a total boost of +60% to damage. Unfortunately, they are unable to utilize good weapons in the mid-tier range since they need much more Dex than is required for anything other than gun equipping. As a result, they either utilize lower-level weaponry or attempt to keep up with the rising Dex requirements and end up permanently crippling themselves. The Mad Genius doesn’t have this issue; his points go into Focus, allowing him to equip the finest wands he can find and increasing his damage by 30% or 60%, depending on which elemental wand he’s wielding.
He can effortlessly handle level 90 artifact wands by level 50. If you don’t have a poison wand, your damage modifiers will be lower than if you were using pistols, but this is easily compensated for by the fact that you can use any wand you find, whereas shootylanders must settle for the stuff they can equip based on their level, and must split their stats between “equip better stuff” and “do damage with it.” You don’t have to do this, so even if you don’t have a poison wand, you’ll outdamage them.
But there’s more to it than that. Wands provide elemental damage of different kinds, which may proc from each strike to cause havoc with your opponents in numerous ways. Freezing, poisoning, igniting, and so forth. Because skills like Chaos Burst fire a large number of bullets and strike large groups, those random elemental effects will appear all over the place. Because you have points in Master of the Elements like a normal glaive-chucker, skills like Poison Burst trigger off of your gun-style attacks, but you can proc Poison Burst a lot more readily than a shootylander because you can really deal decent damage to big crowds. A normal glaive-chucker must autoattack something like a chump in order to trigger a Poison Burst. It isn’t necessary for the Mad Genius to do so.
However, I’d want to make a brief remark about the damage computation. With Master of the Elements, skills that are dependent on weapon DPS but don’t deal a particular kind of damage (Chaos Burst, Glaive Sweep, Rune Vault, and Shadowshot) utilize whatever damage modifiers you receive from your weapon. Skills that are based on your weapon but deal a particular damage type utilize the proper modifiers for that damage type, thus Venomous Hail gets +60% but Flaming Glaives only gets +30%, even if you started with a pure poison weapon.
Rapid Fire is the one (and only) ability that does not function with the Mad Genius. Rapid Fire doesn’t function with a wand in one hand and a handgun in the other for some reason. It would have been fantastic, but I suppose you can’t have it all. You receive everything except Rapid Fire instead. On the plus side, if you find an elemental shotgun that you can use, you’ll already have the ideal stat and skill allocation to do anything you want with it.
The fact that there are no abilities that suck for you makes this build really distinctive and unique among all others. If you’re running a Focus build, you’ll usually have a variety of Focus skills to choose from, as well as physical skills if you’re running a Strength build, and certain non-attribute dependant abilities that work for everyone. Except for Rapid Fire, the Mad Genius may use any talent on the list. After all of that, here’s my rendition of the Mad Genius, complete with all 131 points.
Once I acquire a good elemental shotgun like Earth’s Roar, which you may choose as the new game+ final boss quest prize at level 100, I might switch out Chaos Burst for ten points in Rapid Fire and five more in Venomous Hail. We’ll have to wait and see.
