5 Forgotten Rainbow Six Siege Strats That Still Work in 2025

Some things age like milk in Rainbow Six Siege. Others? Like fine tactical wine. While the meta has shifted wildly over the years — from Jäger mains to Azami chaos — a handful of OG strategies still hold up in 2025. They may be overlooked in today’s drone-heavy, pixel-peeking meta, but don’t sleep on them. These five classic strats might be old-school, but when used right, they’re as lethal as ever.

1. The Sneaky Castle + Mute Combo

Remember when Castle was seen as more of a troll pick than a tactician’s tool? Well, surprise — when paired with Mute, his barricades become a nightmare for attackers. Slap a Mute jammer behind a Castle barricade and suddenly, hard breachers need time, utility, or a mistake on your part to get through.

It’s not flashy, but on maps like Consulate or Bank, this combo can delay an entire push by 30 seconds or more. That’s a lifetime in Siege. While most attackers have adapted to vertical play, this duo still punishes lazy droning and impatient teams. It’s also a great strat if you’re trying to earn some extra Rainbow Six Siege credits and want consistent win bonuses without sweating every round.

2. Roaming With Pulse (From Below)

Pulse might not be the meta heartthrob he once was, but his ability to play under the site is still disgusting — especially if your team is coordinated. On maps like Clubhouse or Oregon, Pulse can lurk below objective rooms and catch attackers planting or holding angles with a well-timed C4.

The key is timing and communication. Let your anchors feed you info, stay hidden, and make every heartbeat sensor ping count. A clean detonation right before the plant can swing the round instantly. It’s still one of the most satisfying plays in the entire game.

3. The “Bulletproof” Maestro Evil Eye Spot

Once the go-to intel gatherer, Maestro fell out of favor when bulletproof gadgets became more common. But here’s the thing: most players still don’t check for hidden Evil Eyes tucked above common entry points. Placing them behind cover or inside destructible ceilings (hello, Theme Park) gives you free info and damage during chaotic late-round pushes.

Pair it with a coordinated smoke/deny setup, and you’re basically forcing attackers into a time crunch every round. They’ll waste precious seconds looking for a cam that’s been watching them the whole time.

4. The Kapkan Trap House

This one’s so simple it feels like cheating. On paper, Kapkan is easy to counter — just look before you vault, right? But in practice, especially during hectic moments or fast pushes, his traps still land kills daily. And in 2025, more new players = more panic = more trap triggers.

The modern twist is stacking multiple traps on doorways or windows to bait attackers into clearing one but triggering the second or third. It’s cheap, it’s rude, and it still works. Bonus: it slows down aggressive teams and gives your roamers more time to pick them off.

5. Reinforce the Hatch — and Bait It

This one is psychological warfare. Reinforce a hatch you want attackers to waste utility on, then set up an ambush nearby. Whether it’s on Clubhouse’s Kitchen or Kafe’s Skylight, attackers tend to tunnel vision hard when they see a reinforced hatch. You can delay them with impacts, get a free pick while they rappel or drone, or rotate around them while they’re preoccupied.

Combine this with some false intel (a loud-footed roam) and attackers will be stuck chasing ghosts while the clock runs out.

Old Dogs, Deadly Tricks

Just because a strat isn’t trending on Reddit doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. Siege is a mind game, and these forgotten tactics still punch way above their weight when used creatively. Whether you’re climbing ranked or just trolling your stack in unranked, give these old-school plays a second life.

And if you’re looking to refresh your Operator lineup or trick out your favorite mains, check out Eneba, a gaming digital marketplace. From Rainbow Six Siege credits to game keys, skins, and subscriptions, it’s a one-stop shop for every tactical gamer.
