Tencent Purchases 15.75% of Arrowhead Game Studios
A report reveals that Tencent acquired 15.75% of Arrowhead’s shares in July 2024 for about USD 83 million, valuing the Helldivers 2 developer at SEK 5.1 billion (around USD 532 million). The report also shares new figures for Arrowhead, showing a turnover of SEK 959 million (USD 100 million) and an operating profit of SEK 729 million (USD 76 million).

Johan Pilestedt, the Chief Creative Officer and co-founder of Arrowhead Studios, mentioned that this Tencent investment will open more doors in the Chinese market, noting that the Chinese player base is highly sought after in the gaming world.
Helldivers 2 launched successfully in 2024, setting Steam and sales records by selling 12 million units in 12 weeks. The CCO indicated that the game attracts around 2.5 million players weekly. Additionally, Arrowhead confirmed that their next game will not be tied to a PlayStation partnership.
