Sonic the Hedgehog
Although Sonic the Hedgehog is a popular mascot for Sega, in earlier years, the developers thought of other animals, such as dogs and rabbits, as their potential rival to Nintendo’s Mario. Fortunately, they chose to go with the blue hedgehog, which has since appeared in more than a hundred games.
In addition to being a beloved mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog has also been depicted in various other forms of media. In 2020, a live-action version of the character was released, and a sequel is due out in 2022.
Tom Nook
This character, who is considered to be the most ruthless in the franchise since Gordon Gecko, was first introduced in the original Nintendo GameCube game. Although he may seem like a sweet and mild character, he is a very shrewd businessman.

The ubiquitous cover star of Minecraft is named Steve. Although he may be faceless, this character is undeniably one of the most enduring symbols of the game. As a mute protagonist, Steve provides the perfect blank slate for players to explore the world of Minecraft.
Due to the game’s popularity and a YouTube series created by Rise Animation, which featured Steve, the character became an iconic figure. He even appeared in a fighting game known as Super Smash Bros.
Dog
The See the Future DLC for Fable 2 featured a variety of dog breeds, and players can raise their version of this iconic character. In the game, the Dog is a vital part of the story and forms a bond with the Hero.
Your choices and actions throughout the game affect the Dog’s mannerisms and appearance. If you play like a total jerk, you’ll quickly encounter a devil dog that develops jet-black paw pads. On the other hand, if the Hero is good, the dog will become a happy boy who enjoys being petted by children. In a notable moment, Dog saves the Hero from a villain known as the evil Lucien by taking a bullet for him.
Ratchet
Since the early 2000s, PlayStation gamers have been falling in love with Lombax, a mechanical creature who has been wowing them with his incredibly fluffy ears. He is a part of the Ratchet universe, and together with Clank, he has been able to save the world many times. Despite being a heroic character, Lombax is always glum.
Until A Crack in Time And Rift Apart revealed more about his origins, it was believed that he was the only member of his species that survived the galaxy. We’re glad Rivet finally managed to bring Lombax’s spirits into the game.
Glados
A villain has to be special to make this list, alongside the fully fleshed-out main characters. For instance, in Portal 2007, Glados is the central figure, and Chell is Valve’s delivery system for its script-driven AI. Her manipulative character traits would have justified her inclusion, as she eventually became a more belligerent overlord.
Glados’s facial turn in Portal 2 seemed to have brought a surprising amount of relatability and pathos to the machine that spent a lot of time trying to kill us.
